What is solution focused therapy?

– And why it is different from the rest.

Solution Focused Practices

Solution focused practice is a positive, creative, respectful and effective way of helping people make changes in their lives.

You have a problem and you want some help with it. Where to start? Many approaches begin by having you talk about your problem, to try to work out what’s causing it and how to fix it.

Which, depending on what your problem is, may be very helpful.
However, there is another way of seeing your situation. You want some help – you must hope this will lead somewhere.

Seeing it this way, the solution-focused practitioner will focus on your hopes, on what you want to be happening rather than on the problem that you don’t want.

And as the solution-focused practitioner I will assume that some of this will already be happening, and that you have the resources and abilities required to make further progress, and I will help you to focus on this too.

And that’s it, in a nutshell. From this different starting point emerges a whole new approach to helping people. There’s lots of information about it around my website, and in lots of other places to which I can point you.

If you would like to know more about my solution-focused practice, and about how we use it and help others to use it in their day to day lives, do get in touch.
